Furniture Pickup and Transportation Checklist
The official FurnitureKaro Editorial Team is dedicated to providing accurate, factual, and practical guides on buying, selling, and managing furniture in Pakistan.
To transport used furniture safely in Pakistan, confirm the item’s dimensions, hire a suitable local loader vehicle like a Suzuki pickup or Shehzoor truck, gather moving blankets and tie-down ropes, carefully dismantle detachable components, protect fragile wood surfaces and fabric upholstery, and secure the load to prevent shifting during transit.
Logistics Phase 1: Before Confirming the Purchase
Before finalizing your deal with the seller, confirm the pickup details. Ask which floor the item is located on and if a lift is available. If you have to carry a heavy Sheesham wardrobe down three flights of stairs, you will need extra helpers and the seller's cooperation. Verify the parking situation for loading vehicles outside the seller's house.
Logistics Phase 2: Before Pickup
Hire a suitable loading vehicle. In Pakistani cities, a Suzuki pickup loader is ideal for single items like a sofa, washing machine, or study desk. For large wardrobes, complete double beds, or L-shaped sofa sets, a Shehzoor truck is necessary. Prepare tie-down ropes, cardboard sheets, and moving blankets or old rugs to protect polished wood surfaces from scratches.
Logistics Phase 3: Loading and Securing the Furniture
Dismantle any detachable parts before loading. Remove table legs, bed side-rails, wardrobe drawers, and glass shelves. Wrap these parts separately. Secure open wardrobe doors and drawers with plastic wrap or tape to prevent them from opening during transport. Place heavy wooden pieces at the bottom of the loader bed and secure the load tightly with ropes to prevent sliding on rough roads.
Logistics Phase 4: Transport and Unloading
Drive carefully, especially when crossing speed bumps or potholed streets. Upon arrival at your destination, check the unloading path before carrying the items inside. Reassemble the furniture carefully, ensuring all screws and brackets are tightened securely, and check that drawers slide smoothly.
